The total capacity of the Chia network has grown almost a hundred times in just a couple of months, reaching a new maximum of 10 exabytes
The network volume of the Chia cryptocurrency project (CHIA) has grown by 8250% since its launch. WCCFTech analysts were the first to notice this. At the time of writing, the Chia network size is 10,020 petabytes (10 exabytes).

For example, as the publication Overclockers found out, the supply of Toshiba hard drives for the first quarter of 2021 amounted to about 39.7 exabytes. Recall that CHIA mining consists of two stages: plotting and forming.
Plotting is similar in design to drawing a lottery, where the winning ticket is called a raft. Farming is responsible for using rafts to generate a block and receiving rewards in the form of CHIA tokens. At the same time, plotting mainly depends on the computing power, RAM, and disk speed.
As WCCFTech found out, the most common plot size is K32 (101 gibibytes). To generate a single K32 raft, a miner will need at least 2 threads, about 3.4 gibibytes of RAM, and about 1.6 tebibytes of write. So to generate 1010 rafts, the protocol for NVMe flash drives will burn 1.6 petabytes of data. For example, a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus solid-state drive will only be able to write 375 K32 rafts before it fails.
We will remind, earlier it became known that the farming of “green bitcoin” disables the hard disk with a volume of 1 TB in just three months. An SSD with a capacity of 512 GB will be enough for only 40-50 days with active CHIA mining. At the same time, the SSD itself with this amount of memory without farming can last up to five years. The price of CHIA at the time of writing is $747.3.
